Elizabeth I. Whiting

Elizabeth I. Whiting, 95, formerly of 571 Chestnut St.,, Meadville, died Sunday, January 21, 2007 at Rolling Fields, Conneautville.

She was born March 24, 1911 in Ridgway, a daughter of the late Louis E. and Irene V. Lindhome Whiting.

She was a 1933 graduate of Allegheny College where she was a member of the Alpha Gamma Delta Sorority.  She taught second grade in the Meadville Elementary Schools for 35 years, retiring in 1972.  She was a member of the Philo Mathesian Club and former secretary, Meadville Woman’s Club, Spencer Hospital Auxiliary, was a former volunteer with the American Red Cross, and was an avid reader.

She was a member of Stone United Methodist Church.

Survivors include a nephew, Charles E. Whiting and his wife Susan of Kent, OH.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Gifford E. Whiting.

Calling hours will be Thursday from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the Robert W. Waid Funeral Home, 581 Chestnut St., Meadville where a funeral service will follow at 1:00 p.m. with the Rev. Aaron Kerr, Pastor of Stone United Methodist Church officiating.

Interment will be in Greendale Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice.
