Richard H. Hanna

December 1, 1917 — May 18, 1988

Richard H. Hanna, Sr., 70, of Meadville, died Wednesday, May 18, 1988, at Meadville Medical Center from injuries sustained in a motorcycle accident Tuesday along Baldwin Street Extension.

Mr. Hanna was born in Oil City, December 1, 1917, a son of Harry Herbert and Frances Ausel Hanna.  He married Alena Mercy Adams May 24, 1943.  She survives.

He had been self-employed as an insurance agent.  He was a member of First Presbyterian Church.  He was a World War II veteran, having served with the US Navy.  He was a member Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1054, Yokosuka, Japan; Masonic Lodge 408, Meadville; and Meadville Kiwanis Club.  He was a founding member of Meadville Little Gridders and as a former member of the Meadville Figure Skating Club and the Meadville Recreation and Park Board.

Survivors, in addition to his wife, include two daughters, Mrs. Jack (Barbara) Cochran, Grant's Pass, OR; and Mrs. Robert (Joan) Gamble of Fremont, OH; two sons, Richard H. Hanna, Jr. of Saegertown and Thomas B. Hanna of Erie; two sisters, Frances Keenan and Ruth Showalter, both of Greensburg; eight grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by two brothers, Harry Hanna and Lloyd Hanna; and one sister, Muriel Korn.

Services were held at Waid Funeral Home.

Interment was in Greendale Cemetery.
