Andrew J. “Jack” Hardenburg, Jr., age 88, of Meadville passed away Friday morning January 9, 2026, in his residence.
He was born in Franklin on May 7, 1937, the son of Andrew J. Sr. and Ruth Anna Hardenburg.
He was a 1955 graduate of Meadville High School and at age 19 he enlisted into the United States Marine Corps, and graduated from recruit training at Parris Island, SC in 1957. After completing training in Aviation hydraulics, he served the balance of his service at Cherry Point NC with the overhaul and repair squadron 2nd Marine air wing. He was honorably discharged from the U.S. Marine Corps, Jan. 3, 1963, having served 3 years active duty and 3 years reserve duty in the inactive reserves.
On April 21, 1978, Jack married the former Evelyn Mae Saul, she passed away in June of 2018.
Jack’s civilian employment after his military service included farming, operating excavating equipment, and 45 years in retail lumber & building supplies business. Jack was a life member of the Marine Corps league, serving as commandant for many years of the Meadville, Aurel Bachiak detachment Marine Corps league and member of NRA.
He was a member of Watson Run Church of God, which was previously known in past years as The Evangelical & Reformed Church & also The United Church of Christ. He started attending church at the age of 10. In later years, Jack served as deacon, trustee, elder, and president of the church consistory. Assumed the duties of Watson Run Church of God as treasurer in 2013.
He is survived by two sons, John and Tom: stepdaughter, Sandra L. “Sandi” Watkins.
He was preceded in death by his wife Evelyn, parents, grandparents, and a brother Michael W. “Bill” Hardenburg.

Family and friends will be received at Watson Run Church of God, 13158 Conneaut Lake Rd., Conneaut Lake on Tuesday, January 13, 2026, from 11:00 AM – 1:00 PM. A Funeral Service will be held at 1:00 PM in the church with Rev. Ken Hough, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Watson Run Cemetery where Meadville VFW Post #2006 will render military honors.
