Anna M. Kaputa, 94, of Wesbury United Methodist Retirement Community, passed away there Sunday, February 16, 2014 following a lengthy illness.
She was born November 3, 1919 in Coal Wood, WV, a daughter of John and Mary Zayac Gasper. In 1929 the family moved to Pennsylvania, first living in Wheaton before moving to Guys Mills.
Anna married Michael C. Kaputa in 1939 and lived in Guys Mills for 83 years. She worked at GTI in Saegertown and Hadley for 20 years and at the former Spencer Hospital as a nurse’s aide for one year. Additionally, she worked long hours on the family farm. Her passion was caring for the elderly and caring for her flowers and her large garden.
She will always be remembered as a hard worker, excellent cook, and loved having her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchild visit her. She was very proud to have five generations in her family.
Survivors include three sons, Michael Kaputa and his wife Glenna of Meadville, John Kaputa and his wife Barbara of Cochranton, and James Kaputa of Saegertown; three grandchildren, Kevin Kaputa and his wife Connie of Conneaut Lake, Kathryn Keyser and her husband Charles of Orlando, FL, and Kimberly Constantino and her husband David of Clarion; four great-grandchildren, Ashley Swingle and her husband Adam of Clarion, Nicole Cook and her husband Kevin of Wilmore, KY, Alexis Constantino of Clarion, and Kaitlyn Constantino of Clarion; one great-great-granddaughter, Leah Swingle of Clarion; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Sue Ploski and Mary Mital; a brother, John Gasper; and a great-grandson, Michael A. Constantino.
In accordance with her wishes, cremation will take place and a family memorial service will be held at a later date.
The family wishes to thank Dr. John Bailey and the staff at Wesbury for their excellent and compassionate care over the past four years and Dr. Frank McLaughlin and the staff at Meadville Medical Center.
