Anna M. Van Slyke, 85, formerly of Conneaut Lake and a resident of Breviller Village, Harborcreek, since 1999, died Friday, March 29, 2002, at Hamot Medical Center, Erie.
Born in McKees Rocks May 13, 1916, she was a daughter of Frank C. and Ida Richeal Forrest. She married Raymond Chester Van Slyke July 8, 1939. He preceded her in death October 17, 1977.
She was a graduate of Ediboro State Teachers College with a bachelor's degree in art.
She was an art teacher at elementary schools in Bridgeville, Conneaut Lake and Linesville.
She was a very active member of Fifth Street Presbyterian Church, its Friendship Sunday School class and its women's group.
She was a member of the Meadville Women's Club and the ROTA Club and a former member of the Pennsylvania State Education Assn. and the Mead Chapter of the Eastern Star.
Survivors include a son, Donald R. Van Slyke (Hally) of Harborcreek; a daughter, Martha Ann Groff (William) of Irwin; four grandchildren, Heather Rogers, Derek Van Slyke, Brad Groff and Jenna Groff and four great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Herry Forrest.
Services were held with the Waid-Coleman Funeral Home.
Interment was in Greendale Cemetery.
