Anthony F. Sabruno, 89, passed away on May 26, 2026 at Wesbury Nursing Home surrounded by family. He was born in Wickliffe, OH on December 30, 1936 to parents Frank D. Sabruno and Adeline R. Pinto.
Known to all as Tony he adored his family. He loved cooking, cars, football, and everything Italy, even living there for a time. Tony married his wife of 33 years, Constance Leake on May 27, 1993. Tony served in the US Air Force from 1954 to 1958. He then attended and graduated from Anderson University earning a bachelor’s degree in English. He also enjoyed playing football for Anderson as number 44 tight end. He then went on to teach and coach football at Madison High School in Madison Ohio. Wanting something more, he became a US Treasury Agent/United States Secret Service and served under Presidents Nixon, Ford, Carter, Reagan and GHW Bush from 1965 through 1987.
Although he did work protection, his favorite work was undercover investigations, particularly in the area of counterfeit currency. After his retirement, he later became the director of security at Allegheny College in Meadville from which he retired in 2001.
Tony is survived by his wife, Constance; his three children, Sabrina (Tim) Mailliard, Gino (Stacey) Sabruno, and Dominic (Alberta) Sabruno; three step-children, Jason (Jessica) Moyer, Yvette (Eric) Harrison, and Shelley Clayton; 14 grandchildren; 8 great grandchildren; one great great granddaughter; two sisters, Jeanette Knapp and Mary Ann McGuiness; and many nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Charles Sabruno.
Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to ROSE AND BLACK FUNERAL HOME & CREMATORY, INC. 3236 S. Main Street, Sandy Lake where visitation will take place on Saturday, May 30, 2026 from 11am until the time of service at 1pm with Beth Creekpaum officiating. Burial and military honors will follow in Oak Hill Cemetery in Sandy Lake.
