Arthur W. Doane
September 8, 1889 — April 8, 1976
Arthur W. Doane, 86, of Meadville, died at Spencer Hospital Thursday, April 8, 1976, after a long illness.
He was born in Cornwallis, OR, on September 8, 1889, a son of Walter A. and Harriet Louise Ellis Doane. He attended King College of Bristol, VA and graduated from Allegheny College in 1912. He had been associated with his father in general surveying and engineering and had worked in various parts of the country for the Portland Cement Assoc. in Buffalo, NY and Rochester, NY, Air Nitrates Corp. of Muscle Shoals, AL, American Waterworks and Guaranteed Co. of New York City, the Sante Fe Railroad and the PA Railroad and for the City of Meadville and several other county municipalities. He was a member of Stone United Methodist Church, Meadville Grange, Crawford County Humane Society of Professional Engineers.
Survivors include a brother, Morse E. of Meadville and several cousins.
Services were held at Waid Funeral Home.
Interment was in Greendale Cemetery.
