Meadville

Beverly Jean Dahl, age 95 of Meadville passed away Monday, December 30, 2024, at Wesbury.

She was born in Akron, OH, on March 27, 1929, to Bessie Foley and Milton King. On July 9th, 1954, Beverly married John “Jack” E. Dahl, who passed away on March 24, 1995. Beverly attended Meadville Area High School. She worked as a bookkeeper for Agway Petroleum for many years and was a devoted homemaker.

Beverly had a deep love for animals, operating her home as an unofficial no-kill shelter for unwanted pets. The decorative lions at the entrance of her driveway became a beacon for stray animals in need of care. Over the years, she helped more than 5,000 animals find loving forever homes, giving each one the time, love, and attention it deserved. Her compassion and tireless dedication to their well-being left an enduring impact on both the animals and the families who adopted them.

She also had a passion for travel, exploring new places and cultures with an open heart and adventurous spirit. She journeyed across much of the United States on cross-country road trips and even ventured to Hawaii. Her travels extended overseas, where she explored Europe, including the Netherlands, Turkey, Greece, Belgium, the United Kingdom, and France, creating cherished memories and connections along the way.

Known for her endless generosity, Beverly approached life with kindness and grace. As a landlord, she treated her tenants with compassion, often showing understanding and patience when rent was due. She also took great joy in hiring people who needed work, always offering opportunities and support with dignity and respect.

She is survived by her daughters Constance (Joseph) Moes of the Netherlands and Cathy (Kevin) Boozel of Fairview; her grandsons Chase (Alexia) Moore and Gabriel (Tabitha) Moes; and her five great-grandchildren, Johan, Nectarios, Theodore, Isabella, and Alessandro.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her former husband Edward Smith, her husband Jack of 40 years, and her brother, Harry King.

The family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to the staff of Wesbury for the wonderful and compassionate care Beverly received during her 11 years there.

The family kindly requests that donations be made to Orphan Angels Cat Sanctuary and Adoption Center, 5439 W Lake Rd, Erie, PA 16505 in Beverly’s memory, honoring her lifelong love and care for animals.

Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to ROSE AND WAID FUNERAL HOME & CREMATORY, INC. 581 CHESTNUT ST. MEADVILLE.

Entombment will take place at Roselawn Memorial Gardens on Monday, January 6th, 2025.
