Blaine G. Ohl passed away Tuesday evening, September 29, 2026, in Grace Nursing Center at Wesbury United Methodist Retirement Community. He was 95 years old.

He was born in Woolrich, PA on February 28, 1931, the son of Morris and Dorothy Ohl.

Blaine was a graduate of Lock Haven High School, then enlisted in the Navy in 1949 where he elected to train as a Hospital Corpsman, then was shipped out to serve in the Korean War with the Marines. He was honorably discharged in 1953.

He then attended Penn State University where he graduated in 1957 with a bachelor’s degree in business administration. After college he got a position serving as an auditor with the General Accounting Office (GAO) where he was employed by the Philadelphia Regional Office for 36 years until 1989.

One day while working at Olmstead AFB near Middletown PA, he spied a pretty, young woman he wanted to ask out. That woman was Kathleen J. Haines who became his wife on December 6, 1958. They were married for 67 years.

In 1959 and 1961 they welcomed daughters Lisa and Julann into their lives. Later in 1961, the young family moved to Japan until 1964 for GAO. While there Blaine worked on projects in the Philippines and South Korea.

Upon their return, the Ohl Family moved to Willow Grove, a Philadelphia suburb where they remained until 2002 in the same house. They first belonged to the Willow Grove United Methodist Church (UMC) where Blaine taught Sunday School. Then they joined Jarrettown UMC where Blaine served as Head Usher and was a leader of the Junior High Methodist Youth Fellowship.

Their daughters attended school in the Upper Dublin School District. After Blaine retired from the GAO, he wanted to continue to work, but this time he did not wear a jacket and tie. He got a CDL license and became a school bus driver for Upper Dublin, a job he thoroughly enjoyed for 11 years. He made it a point to greet each student by name in the morning and wished them a good afternoon as they exited the bus. He was known for getting more gifts from his students than any other driver and wrote each of them a thank you note. He retired from the school district in 2001.

In 2002 Blaine and Kathleen decided it was time to give up their house in Willow Grove and moved to Wesbury United Methodist Retirement Community. Blaine immersed himself in the community by volunteering to take turns with the content on the Wesbury TV channel and volunteered to help with any task when asked. He was also the last living founding member of the Wesbury Woodchucks. They joined Stone United Methodist Church where Blaine served as head usher and was a Trustee. Unfortunately, as time when on, he had to step back from serving his church and community as he physically declined.

Blaine is survived by Kathleen, who still resides in Wesbury, his two daughters Lisa and Julann Ohl of Lancaster, Ohio.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his two brothers, Ronald Ohl and Micheal Ohl.

A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. Interment will be in Greendale Cemetery. Arrangements have been entrusted to ROSE AND WAID FUNERAL HOME AND CREMATORY, INC., 581 CHESTNUT ST., MEADVILLE.
