Candace Ann Hargenrater

Candace Ann Hargenrater, 52, of Saegertown, died at her farm Monday, October 21, 2013

She was born February 26, 1961 in Lockport, NY a daughter of John and Lillian Elaine Dietz Bertschy.

She was a graduate of Meadville High School and Edinboro University.  She worked as a special needs teacher at Meadville Area Senior High School.  She loved her farm, Dream Acres, and farming, raising cattle and pigs.  She would bring her students to her farm for animal assisted therapy.

She is survived by three children, Tyson Holt Hargenrater and his wife Crystal of Meadville, Lucas Jacob Hargenrater of Saegertown and Stevie Lane of Saegertown; four grandchildren, Hannah, Teagan, Tyson and Gauge Hargenrater; her father, John Bertschy; two sisters, Kimberly Bertschy and Kelly Springer-Hurley; a brother, Steve Bertschy; nieces and nephews and all of her beloved students.

Calling hours will be Saturday from 11 a.m. – 2 p.m. at the Robert W. Waid Funeral Home, Inc., 581 Chestnut Street, Meadville.

The funeral service will follow at 2 p.m. with Rev. Sarah Roncolato, Pastor of Stone United Methodist Church, officiating.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials be made to the Autism Society, 4340 East-West Hwy, Suite 350, Bethesda, MD 20814
