Carl R. Rounds, 77, of Meadville, died Saturday, November 11, 2000 at Hamot Medical Center.
He was born in Meadville, July 20, 1923 a son of Carl E. and Floye E. Kightlinger Rounds. He married Edith Erbe, July 6, 1952 and she survives.
He was a veteran of World War II with the US Army serving as a member of the Military Police in Belgium and as a part of the liberation forces in the Philippines. He retired in 1985 from Abex as a mold maker in the foundry after 38 years of service. He previously had worked at Talon and General Electric of Erie. He was of the Protestant faith. He was a big hockey fan and he enjoyed snow skiing and ice skating in his younger years. He also enjoyed taking pictures of his family.
Survivors, in addition to his wife, include two sons, Reid Rounds (Cathy) of Blooming Valley and Jeff Rounds of Meadville; a daughter, Vanessa Willoughby of Temple, TX; two sisters, Maxine Calvin of Meadville and June Allen (Bob) of Terre Haute, IN; a brother, Wilbur D. Rounds (Pat) of Phoenix, AZ; four grandchildren, Lisa Ohman, Allan Rounds, Kyle Rounds and Ian Willoughby and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Sarah Lynn Rounds.
Services were held at Waid Funeral Home.
Interment was in Roselawn Memorial Gardens.
