Carl W. Dennis, 92, of 24518 Plank Road, Meadville died Thursday, May 13, 2004 at Wesbury United Methodist Community.
He was born October 12, 1911 in Jewett, OH a son of Charles H. and Hallie Ruckman Dennis. He married Rose Wessel July 1, 1939 and she preceded him in death February 10, 2002.
He was a graduate of Cochranton High School and he attended Kent State University. He was a farmer in East Mead Twp. and school bus driver for Randolph-East Mead School District. He was also an active member of Wayland Baptist Church, singing in the choir and playing his harmonica for special occasions. He was an avid hunter and fisherman and he loved music, poetry, his family and friends.
Survivors, include two daughters, Rosemary H. Obert and her husband Larry of Union City and Wilma I. Hogan and her husband Patrick of Fairfax, VA; two sons, Kermit D. Dennis and his wife Donna of Blooming Valley and Carl J. Dennis and his wife Darlene of Cochranton; one sister, Doris Roae Manuel of Meadville; nine grandchildren, Ralph C. Obert, William J. Dennis, Brian P. Hogan, Christopher Hogan, Timothy Hogan, Hallie Johncox, Barb Butryn, Esther McElhinney and Mary Anthony, eight great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by two sisters, Bertha Wentz and Wilma Ferlin and one brother, Thomas Dennis.
Calling hours will be Saturday from 3-7 p.m. at Robert W. Waid Funeral Home, Inc., 581 Chestnut St., Meadville.
The funeral and committal service will be Sunday at 2 p.m. at Wayland Baptist Church, 11603 S. Wayland Rd. with the Rev. Harlan A. Nefstead, Pastor and the Rev. Gerald Walton, officiating.
Burial will be in Wayland Cemetery.
