Cecily L. (Liichow) Bailey

Cecily L. Bailey, 69, of Saegertown died Thursday, February 17, 2022 at home surrounded by her family.

She was born December 10, 1952 in Sault Ste. Marie, MI a daughter of Ceo J. and Genevieve Bruzek Liichow.

She graduated from Alcona Community High School in Lincoln, MI.  She then went to Lake Superior State University where she received an Associate Degree in Accounting.  Upon graduation, her work career began at Michigan State University in the accounting department.  She met and married Todd A. Bailey and moved to Meadville.  She had various jobs with local dentists (Dr. Alan Bailey and Dr. Robert Stainbrook) and she also worked for Dr. John Bailey III while continuing her education at Edinboro University where she received her Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education and Master’s degree in Reading.  She was a teacher in the Crawford Central School District at East End and 1st District Schools for 22 years before retiring.

Her interests include travelling and she visited 45 of the 50 states.  She also enjoyed reading, knitting, golfing, and crafting at Peg’s house.  She was a member of the Pennsylvania State Education Association, member, and past Secretary and Treasurer of Business and Professional Women and member and past President of Delta Kappa Gamma.

She is survived by her son Aaron Bailey (Michelle); four grandchildren, Cameron, Alexander, Charlotte, and Alex; three sisters, Pam Schulz (Jerry), Connie Bootz (Charlie) and Beth Llewellyn; two nieces, Jen Deegan (Josh) and Katie Filter (Tony); two nephews, Rob Cooley (Keira) and Ian Llewellyn and David Hurlburt with whom she has lived for the past 22 years.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Sue Smith and a brother-in-law, Don Llewellyn.

Visitation will be Saturday, April 23, 2022 from 12:30-2:30 p.m. at the ROBERT W. WAID FUNERAL HOME, INC., 581 Chestnut Street, Meadville, with a memorial service to follow at 2:30 p.m.

Interment will be in Greendale Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials be made to the Meadville Public Library, 848 N. Main Street, Meadville, PA 16335.
