Charles L. Pierce

Charles L. Pierce, 85, of Somerset, NJ, formerly of Meadville, died at his home Thursday, November 3, 1977, after an illness of several months.  He moved to New Jersey four months ago.

Born in New Eagle, Washington County, January 25, 1892, he was a son of Joseph and Anna Byers Pierce.  He married Margaret Bainbridge.  Pierce retired in 1957 from Talon Division of Textron, Inc. where he had been employed as an electrician.  He was a member of Meadville First Presbyterian Church, Gumfort Masonic Lodge of Fayette City, Solomon Royal Arch Chapter, NW Commandery and Syria Shrine Temple.

Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Dr. A. Grace Pierce of Somerset, NJ; two sons, Wilbert E. of Akron, OH and Charles W. of Pittsburgh; two sisters, Mrs. Leonard (Bessie) Doyle of Charleroi and Mrs. Ray (Isabelle) Gruber of Venango; a brother, William Pierce of Blooming Valley; two grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Services were held at Waid Funeral Home.

Interment was in Roselawn Memorial Garden.
