Charles L. McCracken

Charles L. McCracken, age 80, passed away February 3, 2026, in Meadville Medical Center.

He was born in Meadville, PA and was the son of John (Bill) W. McCracken & Geraldine S. (Hatton) (McCracken) Heil.

He graduated from Latrobe Sr. High School and enlisted in the U.S. Air Force. He was stationed in Germany. Upon his honorable discharge from the Service, he attended Ohio University where he met and then married Susan J. Felmly. They chose Meadville, PA as their forever home, a nice community to raise their family. He opened McCracken’s Beverage, then McCracken's Corner Hoagie Shop and later he worked for Travaglini Enterprises until he retired in December 2017.

Charlie loved being home and spending time with his family, his dogs, and especially with his grandchildren. He was such a kind and gentle soul, he will be greatly missed.

He is survived by his wife Susan of 55 years; two sons, Michael W. McCracken & children, Natalie & William McCracken and Kevin R. McCracken; two brothers, John (Jack) W. McCracken and David R. (Shelly) Heil and their extended Family.

Charlie was preceded in death by his parents and his stepfather Robert H. Heil and sister-in-law, Rosalie M. McCracken.

At the request of his family there will be no services. Arrangements have been entrusted to ROSE AND WAID FUNERAL HOME & CREMATORY, INC., 581 Chestnut Street, Meadville.
