Clair H. Allen, Jr.

Clair H. Allen, Jr., 84, a resident of Wesbury United Methodist Retirement Community, died Friday, August 14, 1998 at his residence following an extended illness.

He was born October 14, 1913 in Meadville, a son of the late Clair H. and Julia Corrigan Allen, Sr.  He married Helen Titsler April 16, 1938.  She preceded him in death May 20, 1997.

Mr. Allen was a graduate of Meadville High School.  He worked for many years for Erie Lackawanna and Conrail Railroads, retiring as an engineer.  He was a member of the Brotherhood of Railway Engineers.  He was a member of Crawford County Amateur Radio Society which was a real love of his.  He enjoyed playing chess, bridge, and reading and he liked scientific things and was an inventive person.

Survivors include a brother, Paul Allen (Betty) of Plano, TX; many nieces and nephews; and great-nieces and great-nephews.

In addition to to his wife, he was preceded in death by a brother, John C. Allen.

A Mass of Christian Burial was held at St. Brigid Church, Meadville with Monsignor Richard Butryn as celebrant.

Entombment was at St. Brigid Cemetery.
