David J. Allen

David J. Allen, 59, of Hartstown died unexpectedly at work Tuesday, February 19, 2019.  He was born January 24, 1960 in Meadville a son of David L. Allen and Brenda Crosley Allen Long.  He married Gail Grafton July 18, 1982 and she survives.

He attended Conneaut Lake High School and was a lifelong farmer, mechanic and truck driver.  He worked at Barber’s Chemical in Sharpsville.  He enjoyed hunting, gun collecting, farming and football, specifically the Pittsburgh Steelers.  He also was a member of the NRA.

Survivors, in addition to his wife Gail of 36 years, include: a son, Jeremy Allen (Audrey) of Jamestown; two daughters, Melissa Allsmith (Cole) of Columbus, OH and Kaylee Allen of Hartstown; his father, David Allen (Pat) of Jamestown; his mother, Brenda Long of Erie; a sister, Robin Allen of Erie and two brothers, Steve Allen (Jen) of Conneaut Lake and Doug Allen of Harrisburg.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, a nephew, Dustin Allen; his mother-in-law, Lois Surala and his step father-in-law, James Surala.

Private family services will be held at a later date.
