Dean F. Lawson, 58, of Meadville, died suddenly Sunday, March 5, 2000, at the Meadville Medical Center.
He was born in Erie, November 8, 1941, a son of the late Bertram and Rosemary Chiarmonte Lawson. He first married Patricia Bojalad and he subsequently married Dianne Wasson Robinson May 17, 1997. She survives.
He was a 1959 graduate of Academy High School of Erie, following which he served two years in the US Navy as a Medical Corpsman. He then was employed by St. Vincent Hospital as a hospital orderly and ambulance operator. He subsequently worked for Meadowbrook Diary. In 1969, he attended Mercyhurst College and went to work for DuPont Pharmaceuticals for whom he had worked for the past 31 years, most recently as a Neurology Specialist Consultant and territory manager. DuPont recognized him over the years with numerous achievement awards.
He was a coach in Boys Baseball of Erie, co-founder of the Erie Youth Soccer Assn., PIAA soccer official and former officer of the Erie chapter, NCAA soccer official and current President of the Erie chapter, member of the Executive board of Big Brother and Big Sisters of Crawford County, co-founder of Parkinson's Partners of NWPA and was instrumental in forming several other Parkinson support groups.
Survivors in addition to his wife, Dianne, include two sons, Jeffrey J. Lawson of Erie and Timothy C. Lawson of York; a daughter, Dina M. McKenna of Orlando, FL; a step-son, Nathan Robison of Meadville; a sister, Patricia Gloekler of Clemmons, NC; a brother, Jerome Lawson of Philadelphia; four grandchildren, Katelyn Lawson, Tessa McKenna, Richard Dean McKenna and Ericha Mary McKenna and several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.
Services were held at Waid Funeral Home.
Interment was in Greendale Cemetery.
