Donald L. "Moe" Jones

Donald L. “Moe” Jones, 70, of Sandy Lake, passed away on August 27, 2026 at Butler Hospital.

He was born in Meadville on August 26, 1956, the youngest of three sons, to parents Jack P. Jones and Mary Jane Perrine.

Moe graduated from Lakeview High School in 1975 and went on to serve in the United States Army in the 2nd Squadron, 2nd Armored Cavalry Regiment in Bamberg, Germany. His duty title was a Heavy Motor Transport Vehicle Operator. He was appointed as a Commander’s Driver in California transporting various Generals and other distinguished guests. He served in Germany, California and finished his service in Fort Dix, New Jersey where he received an honorable discharge. He also worked as a bouncer for many local clubs in the area during his military career. 

He married his wife Daphne Sharrar on September 30, 2017 and she survives at home.

In his younger years, he was a Lakeview Sailor heavyweight wrestler in high school and a member of the Bamburg Army wrestling team in his time in the military. Moe loved to ride his many Harley Davidsons and build classic cars. He was the local Arm-Wrestling Champion for 3-4 years in a row, and held the Demolition Derby Champion title for three years at the Great Stoneboro Fair.

Moe loved swap meets, yard sales, flea markets and collecting “junk”; he was a self-employed salver, opening his first junk yard in Jackson Center before finally moving to Sandy Lake. For much of his life he collected license plates, oil cans, vintage motorcycles, classic cars, and much more. He was even featured on the American Pickers TV show where his local status grew greater. He collected old movies, mostly westerns and action films, and loved all kinds of music.

He was a massive Stoneboro/Sandy Lake historian, wanting to preserve the past for those of the present and future from what most people would throw away. Moe loved all types of animals, especially his dogs, Duke and Zeus being some of his favorites over the decades. Above all, Moe was a great friend to many of the local people and nationally recognized.

Moe is survived by his wife Daphne; seven children, Keith (Kerri) Bailey, Angelique (Tom) Owens, Anthony (Gina Casciani) Jones, Arianna Sharrar, Briar Rose Sharrar, Caleb Sharrar, and Kathryne Stull; six grandchildren, Nathen Bailey, Arlo Jones, Rayne Owens, Gianella Jones, Gemma Jones, and Emmy Stull-Martinson; close friend Ken Long; and many other people who became great friends and close companions over his past seven decades.

Moe is preceded in death by his parents, Jack and Mary Jane; and one son Lewis “Lugnut Louie”Isenberg.

Funeral arrangements are entrusted to Rose and Black Funeral Home, 99 Franklin St. Stoneboro where friends will be received on Friday, September 4, 2026 from 10am – 12pm and 2pm-4pm.

A funeral and full military honors will follow at 4pm to conclude his service.
