Dorothy Burton

Dorothy M. Burton, 59, of Guys Mills, a former nursing professional, died Thursday, July 18, 1991, at Meadville Medical Center following an extended illness.

She was born in East Mead Township, March 14, 1932, a daughter of Clyde A. and May Williams Smith.  She married Robert C. Burton June 27, 1968.  He survives.

She was a 1954 graduate of Meadville City Hospital School of Nursing.  She was employed for 20 years in hospital nursing in Denver, CO, and worked for several years in doctors' offices in Meadville.  She was a member of Lyona Bible Church.

Survivors, in addition to her husband, include two daughters, Yvonne Shaffer and Michelle A. Burton, both of Guys Mills; two sons, Jeffrey B. Burton of Guys Mills and Christopher S. Burton serving with the US Navy and stationed in San Diego, CA; three brothers, Arden Smith of Greensburg and Richard A. Smith and Clyde E. Smith, both of Guys Mills; two grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Services were held at Waid Funeral Home.

Interment was in Townley Cemetery.
