Dorothy N. Curry

Dorothy N. Curry, 88, formerly of 707 Chestnut St., Meadville and Elizabeth, PA and a current resident of Wesbury United Methodist Community, Meadville, died there Friday, May 19, 2006.

She was born in Glassport June 20, 1917, a daughter of the late Fritz and Gertrude Dreer Akerman.  She married James Curry in 1940 and he preceded her in death in 1981.

She was a graduate of Elizabeth High School, Elizabeth, PA.  She worked as a Buyer and Sales Clerk for 20 years at J.C. Penney Company in Pleasant Hills at the Century III Mall.

She was affiliated with the Church of Jesus Christ in Kinsman, OH.

Her focus in life was her family.

Survivors include 3 sons, James R. Curry and his wife Lori of Franklin, IN; Timothy A. Curry and his wife Shiela of Towanda; and Richard S. Curry of Meadville; 2 sisters, Helen Smith of Pine Top, AZ; and Grace Smith of Clairton; a brother, Isaac Smith of Pine Top, AZ; 6 grandchildren, Kimberly Merichko, Todd Curry, David Curry, Matthew Curry, Moss Curry, and Kate Curry; and 2 great-grandchildren.  In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Howard and Arnold Akerman; and one sister, Ruth Akerman.

Calling hours are Sunday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Paul E. Bekavac Funeral Home, 221 N. 2nd Ave., Elizabeth.

A funeral service will be Monday at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home with the Rev. Phillip Jackson, Pastor of Church of Jesus Christ, Kinsman, OH.

Interment will be in Mt. Vernon Cemetery, Elizabeth Township, Allegheny County.

Memorials may be made to the Church of Jesus Christ, 8299 State St., P.O. Box 229, Kinsman, OH 44428.

Local arrangements are under the direction of the Robert W. Waid Funeral Home, 581 Chestnut St., Meadville.
