Dorothy Jean Raby

Dorothy “Dot” J. (Miller) Raby, 101, of Grove City, passed away at her son-in-law’s home on May 16, 2025. Dorothy was born to Elmer and Mildred Miller on January 21, 1924, in Franklin, PA. Dorothy obtained her GED and attended nursing school to receive the licensure to become an LPN at Bashline Hospital. Dorothy also worked as a telephone operator in the ‘40s.

Dorothy was married to her sweetheart, Jack Raby of Espanola, Ontario, Canada; for 33 years before his passing in 2007. They enjoyed running Raby’s Roost along Panache Lake for many years.

Dorothy was of the Christian faith. She loved to get out and bowl. Dorothy never missed a chance to play some bingo or hit the casino with her girls. She enjoyed traveling with her husband, taking many trips throughout her life. She would always have a good time if there was some bluegrass music being played too. And most importantly, Dorothy loved a good bargain.

Dorothy is survived by her son-in-law, Carl “Junior” Gadsby with whom she made her home, as well as her stepsons, Kevin (Sue) and Dwain Raby, and their families. Dorothy was known by her PA family as Nan and her Canadian family as Oma, but she was still an amazing grandmother to them all. She is survived by her granddaughter, Sarah Jean (Jim) Perrine, and her great-grandsons, Nick (Sandy) and Brandon (Melanie) Perrine. Dorothy is survived by her great-great-grandchildren, Canaan and Silas. Dorothy is survived by her cousin, Margie Henderson.

Dorothy is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, her daughter; Sue Gadsby, her sisters; Barbara (Walter) Manoske and Mary (Boyd) Lepley, and her great-great-granddaughter, Allegheny.

Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Rose and Black Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc. 99 Franklin St. Stoneboro, PA 16153. Friends and family will be received from 6-7PM on Thursday, June 5, at the funeral home with a memorial service to follow.
