Douglas Allen Stanton, age 76, of Conneaut Lake, passed away on April 22, 2026, in Meadville Medical Center after a short illness.
He was born in Meadville, PA, on September 17, 1949, the son of Robert and Margaret (Laderer) Stanton.
Doug was a 1967 graduate of Meadville High School. He continued his education at the former Alliance College, where he received his undergraduate degree in 1971, and later earned his Master’s Degree from Edinboro University in 1976.
On July 3, 1971, Doug married the former Christine Larson.
He began his career in education as a ninth-grade English teacher at Meadville Junior High School in 1972. After receiving his degree in administration, Doug served as an assistant principal at Meadville High School for two and a half years. He then became assistant principal at Meadville Junior High School, before going on to serve as principal for a number of years. He later served as principal at Neason Hill Elementary School until his retirement in 2006.
Doug was an avid hunter and fisherman. He also enjoyed driving his 1961 Corvette and spending time on the boat with his friends at the lake.
He is survived by his wife Christine of 54 years; a daughter, Amanda (Brian) Mahoney; a son, Jarrod Stanton; three grandchildren, Aiden Mahoney, Addison Mahoney, Carson Mahoney; three brothers, Thomas (Jane) Stanton, Gary (Julie) Stanton, Randy (Linda) Stanton; and several nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents and niece, Molly Stanton.
Friends and family are welcome to the Celebration of Life on June 7, 2026, from 3pm - 6pm at the Iroquois Boating & Fishing Club in Conneaut Lake, PA. Arrangements have been entrusted to ROSE AND WAID FUNERAL HOME & CREMATORY, INC., 12422 Conneaut Lake Road, Conneaut Lake, PA.
