E. Gertrude Brown

Mrs. E. Gertrude Brown, 84, of Meadville, died Monday, December 24, 1962, at Spencer Hospital after a long illness.

She was born in Allegheny County December 1, 1878, a daughter of David and Margaret Nelson Hughes.  She was the widow of Henry E. Brown, whom she married December 11, 1895, and who died December 16, 1936.

Mrs. Brown was a member of Stone Methodist Church and was past president of its Women's Society of Christian Service.  She also was a member of Golden Crown Chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star, Trinity White Shrine of Jerusalem and Center Road Grange.

Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Chauncey (Margaret) Bubbett of Meadville; five sons, Henry D. of Conneaut Lake, George H. of Snyder, NY, F. David of Meadville, Herbert G. of Linesville and Hermon G. of Linesville; a sister, Mrs. S. H. Caler of Clinton; two brothers, Harry Hughes of Aliquippa and T. Walter Hughes of Clinton; eleven grandchildren; and one great-grandson.  A son, Alfred W., preceded her in death.

Services were held at Waid Funeral Home.

Interment was in Cochranton Cemetery.
