Earl E. Johnston

Earl E. Johnston, 70, of Meadville, died Thursday, August 7, 1986, at Meadville Medical Center following a lengthy illness.
Mr. Johnston was born in Hayfield Township, July 2, 1916, a son of Thurman and Pearl Inez Hofius Johnston. He married Esther M. Boyd July 3, 1937. She survives.
He retired from the former American Viscose Corp. as a mechanic in 1975 as after 28 years of service. He was a member of First Christian Church. He was a World War II veteran, having served in the US Army.
Survivors, in addition to his wife, include one daughter, Mrs. Anna Palmer of Meadville; four sons, Edward L. Johnston of Meadville, James E. Johnston of Miami, Walter L. Johnston of Meadville and Robert L. Johnston of Fort Benning, GA; one sister, Mrs. Howard (Ellen) Hickman of Meadville; fourteen grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by one brother, Patterson (Pat) Johnston.
Services were held at Waid Funeral Home.
Interment was in Denny Cemetery.
