December 25, 1922 — August 19, 2022

Edith Campbell Rabell, 99, of Meadville, passed away Friday, August 19, 2022 at Meadville Medical Center.

She was born December 25, 1922 in Venango, PA, a daughter of J. Roy and Laura Humes Campbell.  She married Milton K. Rabell December 4, 1943 and he was tragically killed during World War II on November 19, 1944.  She subsequently married Alton L. Rabell October 12, 1946 and he preceded her in death March 12, 2008.

Edith was a graduate of Cambridge Springs High School and Meadville Business College.  She worked as secretary to the president of Allegheny College from 1958 to 1985 and served as a member and secretary of the Penncrest School Board for ten years.

Edith was the recipient of Business and Professional Woman’s Club Woman of the Year award in 1990 and the Wesbury Senior Tribute award for outstanding community service in 2010.

Edith had the gifts of hospitality and sharing.  Her home was open and warm; each person who entered was treated as someone special and loved, and she made sure they were fed too.  Her Boston brown bread and blueberry muffins are famous.
