Edith Winans
April 27, 1870 — March 4, 1966
Mrs. Edith Winans, 95, died Friday, March 4, 1966, at her home in Meadville, following a year's illness.
She was born in Richmond Township, April 27, 1870, a daughter of Williams and Hannah Merrill Shorts. Her first husband, Alonzo Smith, whom she married in 1887, died in 1900. In 1907, she married Neal C. Winans who died in November 1953.
Mrs. Winans was a dressmaker at Townville for many years.
She is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Vera Winans of Meadville; three grandchildren, Mrs. Edward (Vernice) Patton of Conneaut Lake, Mrs. Charles (Marjorie) Welsh of Fort Lauderdale, FL and Lawrence L. Winans of Meadville; thirteen great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
Services were held at Waid Funeral Home.
Interment was in Lyona Cemetery, Richmond Township.
