Edwin E. McBride, 78, of Meadville, died Saturday, November 18, 2000, at Wesbury United Methodist Retirement Community following a period of declining health.
Born June 29, 1922, in McMinnville High School, he served during World War II with the US Army Air Corps.
For 38 years, until his retirement in 1984 as foreman of the machine shop, he had been employed by Channellock.
As a member of Wayland Baptist Church, her served as deacon, church treasurer and choir member. He was also a member of Saegertown American Legion, Erie-Crawford State Police Aux. and Wayland Cemetery Assn. Board of Directors.
A citizen's band radio operator known as "Tennessee Ed," he enjoyed bowling, gardening and repairing clocks.
Survivors, in addition to his wife of 57 years, include three daughters, Suzanne McBride of Peekskill, NY, Martha Spiggle of Nashville, TN and Jane Myers (Cris) of Conneaut Lake; one son, William McBride (Cher) of Nevada, Iowa; five grandchildren, Adam, Ben and Katie Myers and Kenton and Courtney McBride; three sisters, Lola Stanton of Murfreesboro, TN, Nan Cantrell of McMinnville and Doris Simpson of Nashville, TN.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Gladys Keel and two brothers, Dewey and Johnny McBride.
Services were held at Waid Funeral Home.
Interment was in Wayland Cemetery.
