Elizabeth Marine Christie, 85, of Grandview Avenue, Meadville died Thursday, July 12, 2007 at the Meadville Medical Center.
She was born September 12, 1921 in Felton, Delaware a daughter of the Rev. Marion and Charlotte Bromley Marine. After her father’s death her mother married Mr. Paul Culhane. She married Robert Christie October 11, 1938 and he survives.
Libby was a 61 year member of the First Presbyterian Church and for 5 years was the floral decorator and arranger. She was a founding member of the Hilltop Garden Club. In addition, Libby was an avid bridge player and she enjoyed playing with three different clubs. Lib was well known for her love of butterflies; however, her first priority was always her family.
Survivors, in addition to her husband of 68 years, include: two daughters, Charlotte Thomas and her husband Christopher of Meadville and Rachel Christie and her husband Stephen Bangs of Loveland, OH; a son, Huntington B. Christie of Centerville; a daughter-in-law, Carol A. Christie of Erie; a step-brother, Paul Culhane of Arlington Heights, IL and seven grandchildren, David Thomas, Jeffrey Thomas, Elizabeth Bangs, Stephen Bangs, Eric L. Christie, John R. Christie and Matthew S. Christie.
In addition to her parents and step-father, she was preceded in death by a son, Robert M. Christie and a brother, Dr. Robert Marine.
Memorial services will be announced and held at a later date at the First Presbyterian Church, 890 Liberty Street, Meadville with the Rev. Dr. Brian K. Jensen, Pastor, officiating.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials be made to the Meadville Medical Center Foundation with attention to the new Cancer Institute, 1035 Grove Street, Meadville, PA 16335 or the First Presbyterian Church, 890 Liberty Street, Meadville, PA 16335.
