Ellen Genevieve Karns

Ellen Genevieve Karns, 94, of Meadville, died Monday, December 2, 1996 at Meadville Medical Center following a brief illness.

She was born December 13, 1901 in Meadville, a daughter of the late Anthony and Louise Vasieu Smith.  She married Ray Jonas Karns on January 29, 1926.  He preceded her in death in 1977.

She was a homemaker who especially enjoyed gardening and her family and friends.  She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church.

Survivors include three daughters, Mrs. William (June) Allen and Mrs. Stephen (Nancy) Clark, both of Meadville and Mrs. Lee (Geraldine) Mix of Lake City; two sons, Robert R. and Lewis A. Karn, both of Meadville; seventeen grandchildren; twenty-two great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a daughter, Laura Mae Karns; two brothers, Homer and Gilbert Smith; and four sisters, Grace Burton, Florence Smith, Magdalene Morris and Laura Belle Smith.

Services were held at Waid Funeral Home.

Interment was in Greendale Cemetery.
