Esther M. Johnston

Esther M. Johnston, 88, a resident of the Crawford County Care Center for the past four years, died there Monday, June 5, 2006.

She was born in Hayfield Township. July 2, 1917, a daughter of Line and Anna Crane Boyd.  She married Earl E. Johnston July 3, 1937 and he preceded her in death on August 7, 1986.

She was a homemaker who was very proud of her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.  She enjoyed traveling with her husband, gardening and reading.

She was a member of First Christian Church, Meadville.

Survivors include a daughter, Anna Ehrgott and her husband Lynn of Meadville; 3 sons, James E. Johnston and his wife Arlene of Meadville, Walter L. Johnston and his wife Judy of Meadville, and Robert L. Johnston and his wife Marilyn of Colorado Springs, CO; a brother, Kenneth Boyd and his wife Dorothy of Saegertown, PA, 14 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by a son, Edward Lee Johnston.

An hour of calling will be from 10-11 at First Christian Church, 503 N. Main Street, Meadville, PA.  The memorial service will follow in the sanctuary at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Dr. Terry Clark, Pastor, officiating.

Burial will be in Denny Cemetery, Hayfield Township.

Arrangements are under the direction of the Robert W. Waid Funeral Home, Inc, 581 Chestnut St., Meadville.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials be made to First Christian Church, 503 N. Main St., Meadville, PA 16335.
