Eugene E. (Gene) LaTourette, age 93, of Meadville, passed away Wednesday afternoon January 7, 2026, in Wesbury United Methodist Retirement Community.
He was born in Manilla, Philippine Islands on May 1, 1932, the son of Samuel and Pearl (Stechow) LaTourette, Jr.
Gene was a 1985 graduate of Allegheny College with a bachelor’s degree in Studio Arts, specializing in painting birds and portraits, he previously attended Case Western, Akron, and John Carroll University. On June 8, 1963, Gene married the former Joanne Weaver; she preceded him in death on May 20, 2005.
He was employed as a Certified Public Accountant in Pennsylvania and Ohio with a private Practice in Industry.
Gene was a member of Stone United Methodist Church and McCracken Chapel. He belonged to the American Industry Society, the Ohio Society, and Pennsylvania Institute of Certified Public Accountants, and MENSA, the High IQ Society. He also exhibited his paintings at Heinz Hall in Pittsburgh.
He enjoyed hunting, fishing, boating, cooking, and nature photography.
Gene is survived by six children, Claudia Mayer and her husband Christopher of Windham, NH, Mark Dobson and his wife Maria of Howell, MI, Andrew LaTourette and his wife Terrie of Greenwood, SC, Stephanie Dobson and her husband Peter Clark of Ames, IA, Eve LaTourette Brooksieker and her husband David of Solon, OH, Sarah LaTourette Thomas and her husband John of Marblehead, OH; a daughter- in- law, Jennifer LaTourette of McLean, VA; 15 grandchildren, Jessica, Lauren, Sarah, Sam, Claire, Amy, Scott, Robert, Graham, Ian, Erica, Gordon, Phoebe, Henry, and Emerson; ten great grandchildren, Victoria, Austin, Emma, Audrey, Owen, Vivian, Andrew, Matthew, Tessie, and John.
He is preceded in death by his wife, parents, a son Steven C. LaTourette, and a brother, Samuel LaTourette.
Family and Friends will be received on Monday January 12, 2026, from 11:00-1:00 PM in ROSE AND WAID FUNERAL HOME & CREMATORY, INC., 581 CHESTNUT ST., MEADVILLE. A Funeral Service will be held on Monday January 12, 2026, at 1:00PM in the funeral home with Rev. Sam Marchetta, pastor at Wesbury officiating. Burial will be in Greendale Cemetery.
