Flava D. Bates

Flava D. Bates, of Meadville, widow of Perry P. Bates, died Saturday evening, December 7, 1968, at City Hospital where she had been a patient for the past two months following a brief illness.

She was born in East Fallowfield Township on June 28, 1882, a daughter of Joseph and Eva Peterson Mushrush.  Her husband died in 1943.

Mrs. Bates was employed by the Ameican Viscose Division of FMC Corp.  She was a member of High Street United Presbyterian Church, Conneaut Lake; Meadville Grange; and the American Red Cross and Blood Bank.  She did volunteer work for the Meadville Canteen during World War II and for City Hospital.

Surviving are a nephew, Charles V. Stewart, Novelty, OH; and several cousins.

Services were held at Waid Funeral Home.

Interment was in Greendale Cemetery.
