Florence H. Boyd

Florence H. Boyd, 99, formerly of Guys Mills and a resident of the Crawford County Care Center for the past two years, died there Thursday, July 23, 1998.

She was born in Randolph Township, May 27, 1899, a daughter of Leslie and Charlotte Ann (Holder) Shaffer.  She married Howard B. Boyd September 5, 1922 and he preceded her in death July 10, 1974.

She was a homemaker and was a member of the United Evangelical Free Church of Guys Mills and its Ladies Aid Society.  She also enjoyed quilting for many years, her family and her flower garden.

Survivors include three daughters, Eloise Kosanovic (Mitchell) of Indiana, PA, Carolyn Miller (Wilford) of Guys Mills and Jean Rumsey (Gene) of Meadville; five sons, John L. Boyd (Laura) of Townville, Donald H. Boyd (Anna Mae) of Meadville, Russel J. Boyd (Virginia) of Guys Mills, R. Dale Boyd (Karol) of Gainesville, FL and David S. Boyd (Marilyn) of Meadville; twenty grandchildren; twenty-five great-grandchildren and a great-great-grandchild.

She was preceded in death by four sisters, Roxie Carpenter, Erma Kline, Hazel Savard and Mabel Russell and two brothers, Ivan and Clarence Shaffer.

Services were held at Waid Funeral Home.

Interment was in Union Cemetery, Guys Mills.
