Fred E. Oster, 88, formerly of Meadville, died Wednesday, January 24, 1962, at Smith Institute, Saegertown, following a long illness. He had been at the institute for about two years.
He was born in New York City on October 3, 1873. Mr. Oster spent most of his life in the Hayfield and Vernon Township areas.
He was employed by the Bessemer-Lake Erie Railroad before retiring.
His widow, Leona G. Oster, whom he married January 23, 1899, survives. She is a resident of the Crawford County Home. Also surviving are a son, Rodney E. of Garden City, MI; a grandson, Fred C. Oster of Meadville and a great-granddaughter.
A son, Theodore, preceded him in death.
Services were held at Waid Funeral Home.
Interment was in Greendale Cemetery.
