Garth W. Watson

Garth W. Watson, 93, of Meadville, died Friday, March 9, 1990, at Apworth Manor, Tyrone, where he had been a resident of the past year and a half, on Friday.

He was born at Mt. Chestnut, Butler County, July 24, 1896, a son of Edwin A. and Eva Stoops Watson.  He married Pauline M. Emory in 1930.  She preceded him in death on April 10, 1988.

He retired in 1979 as owner/operator of Watson China House on North Street.  He was a member of Emmanuel United Church of Christ.  Mr. Watson was a veteran of World War I and was a member of Elks Lodge 219; Meadville Aerie 429 and the American Legion.

He is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Henry (Janet) Gwizdak of Tyrone; two sons, David G. Watson of Cleveland, OH and P. Douglas Watson of Somersworth, NH; twelve grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a daughter, Delores Markey, in 1969.

Services were held at Waid Funeral Home.

Interment was in Roselawn Memorial Gardens.
