George A. Zeitler

George A. Zeitler, 92, of Meadville, died Thursday, November 5, 1987, at Wesbury United Methodist Community, where he had been a patient for the past six months, following a short illness.

Mr. Zeitler was born in Fryburg, November 19, 1894, a son of Joseph and Elizabeth Stiglitz Zeitler.  He married Hazel Whistler on June 12, 1916.  She survives.

He owned and operated a furnace business in Meadville and previously had been employed by the Ford Motor Co.  He made his winter residence in Holly Hill, FL, for 27 years until 1976.  He was a member of St. Agatha's Roman Catholic Church.

Survivors, in addition to his wife, include two daughters, Mrs. June Prather of Meadville and Mrs. Shirley Anderson of New Orleans, LA; eight grandchildren and fourteen great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by one son, US Army Air Corps 2nd Lt. James Zeitler, who died during World War II; two sisters and five brothers.

Services were held at Waid Funeral Home.

Interment was in St. Agatha Cemetery.
