George (Doc) Boyd

George (Doc) Boyd, 66, of Meadville, died Wednesday, August 17, 1988, at Meadville Medical Center following an extended illness.

He was born in Meadville, February 8, 1922, a son of Dr. Martin V. and Ianthe Lang Boyd.  He married Viola Bachiak August 13, 1947.  She survives.

He was a sales representative for Eaton Manufacturing Co., Cleveland, for 15 years.  He previously was employed as a construction pipe fitter for 10 years.  He was a member of Emmanuel United Church of Christ, and Crawford Masonic Lodge 234 and Elks Lodge 219, both in Meadville.

Survivors, in addition to his wife, include a daughter, Mrs. Jay (Karen) Palmer of Meadville; a son, Bruce Boyd of Meadville; four sisters, Mrs. Charles (Ianthe) Henkles, Mrs. Robert (Phyllis) Laderer, Maryln Trace and Catherine Boyd; three grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by two brothers, both of whom were named Martin Van Buren Boyd, Jr.; and an infant son.

Services were held at Waid Funeral Home.

Interment was in Greendale Cemetery.
