George L. Stiles

George L. Stiles, 89, of Meadville, died Wednesday, April 19, 2000 at Meadville Medical Center following a short illness.

He was born October 28, 1910 in Charleroi, a son of the late Louis Henry Harrison and Augusta Pieard Stiles.  He married Helen Finney August 15, 1931 and she preceded him in death in 1964.  He subsequently married Ella E. Ellis October 16, 1964 and she survives.

He retired from Channellock, Inc. as foreman of the shipping department in 1974 following 32 years of service.  He was a member of the Channellock management club and enjoyed golfing and volunteering at Hailwood Gold Course working on the greens.

He attended Hamlin Chapel United Methodist Church.

Survivors, in addition to his wife, include a grandson, Matthew Stephens (Samantha) of Saegertown; a sister, Marie Schwarzel of Mechanicsburg and nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents and first wife, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Dorothy Stephens and a brother, August Stiles.

Services were held at Waid Funeral Home.

Interment was in Roselawn Memorial Gardens.
