Gerald E. Manross, 94, of Meadville and a resident of Embassy of Park Avenue passed away there, Sunday, January 7, 2024.
He was born March 22, 1929, in Oil City, a son of Loys and Juanita Rutherford Manross. He married Virginia A. Olszowka May 9, 1953, and she preceded him in death January 4, 2015.
Gerald was a graduate of Oil City High School. He was a veteran of the Korean War, serving in the U.S. Army. He worked for Talon and Textron as an Engineer for 38 years.
Gerald was a life member and past commander of VFW Post 2006 as well as a member of Crawford Masonic Lodge 234, Lodge of Perfection, Oil City and Scottish Rite Bodies, Erie.
Survivors include: a son, Gary Manross (Terry) of Meadville; a daughter, Karen Bortner (Brad) of Meadville; four grandchildren, Jessica Babbitt, Diana Besoiu (Eric), Megan Bortner, and Jacob Bortner; two great granddaughters, Olivia, and Emma Besoiu; and nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; and a sister, Barbara Manross.
Private family services will be held at the ROBERT W. WAID FUNERAL HOME, 581 CHESTNUT ST., MEADVILLE with a Masonic service, and military honors provided by VFW Post 2006.
Interment will be in Greendale Cemetery.
