Harold Alton Oakes

Harold Alton Oakes, 72, of Mt. Hope, died at Meadville City Hospital on Friday, January 29, 1965, after a month's illness.
Born in Randolph Township on May 14, 1892, he was a son of William L. and Sarah R. Oakes. He was married to Esther Morrison on December 28, 1910. She died in 1962.
Mr. Oakes was a retired farmer. He was a member of Mt. Hope Methodist Church and Mt. Hope Grange.
Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. John (Ruth) McCurdy of Guys Mills; a son, Wallace H. Oakes of Cochranton; four sisters, Mrs. Kerna Wentworth of Meadville, Mrs. Rae (Ruth) Byham of Guys Mills, Mrs. Floyd (Helen) Smith of Black Ash and Mrs. William (Hazel) Cutshall of Guys Mills; several nieces and nephews; nine grandchildren and a great-grandchild.
Services were held at Waid Funeral Home.
Interment was in Mt. Hope Cemetery.
