Harriet B. Williams, 93, formerly of Rogers Ferry Road and a resident of Wesbury United Methodist Community since December 1990, died there Sunday, January 9, 2000 following a period of declining health.
She was born in Fredonia, PA, June 25, 1906, a daughter of the late Joseph Albert and Harriet Findley Boyd. She married Kenneth P. Williams, August 20, 1930 and he preceded her in death September 15, 1990.
She was a 1924 graduate of Meadville High School and in 1928, she received her BS degree with Honors from Allegheny College. She was employed as a Welcome Wagon Hostess from 1951 -1958 and she served for many years as a volunteer nurse's aide at the former City Hospital and the American Red Cross Blood Bank. She was a member of Stone United Methodist Church for 80 years and was a former Sunday School teacher, served on various boards and committees and was a member and past president and secretary of its United Methodist Women. She also was a member of the Thesaurus Club. She was also a very loving and devoted wife, mother and grandmother.
Survivors, include two daughters, Mary Jane Williams Inman (William) of Allison Park and Betty Williams Minnis (David) of Meadville; six grandchildren, Natalie Jordan Klaum of Pittsburgh, Todd Jordan of Hadley, Kirk Jordan of Hadley, Lauren Minnis Stewart of Madison, OH, Jeffrey D. Minnis of Naperville, IL and Christopher Minnis of Meadville; three step-grandchildren, sixteen great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Janet Louise Williams; two sisters, Ethel Lane and Alice Truran and a brother, Dr. Howard Boyd.
Services were held at Waid Funeral Home.
Interment was in Greendale Cemetery.
