Hedwig (Harriet) Mclamb

Hedwig (Harriet) McLamb, 86, of Meadville, died Tuesday, May 2, 1995, at Meadville Medical Center after a lengthy illness.

She was born in Kopple, August 5, 1908, a daughter of the late John Paul and Marie Kessler Thiess.  She married Manley B. McLamb, April 9, 1933.  He preceded her in death January 20, 1991.

She was a graduate of Meadville High School and Meadville City Hospital School of Nursing.  She had done private duty nursing for a number of years.

She also had worked in the advertising department of radio station WMGW for a brief period writing ad copy.  For 25 years, she was assistant to the circulation librarian at Allegheny College.

She was a co-organizing chairman of the American Cancer Society and fund-raising co-chairman for two years; co-chairman of the Girl Scout Council; co-chairman in organizing the first MHS parent-teacher assn.; member of Mead Chapter, Order of Eastern Star; active in Meadville Republican Women and member of Trinity Lutheran Church.

Survivors include a daughter, Judith M. Edminster of Stroudsburg; a son, James R. McLamb of Meadville; nine grandchildren and five great-grandchildren; a brother, Kenneth Thiess of Vergennes, VT and many nieces and nephews.

Services were held at Waid Funeral Home.

Interment was in Roselawn Memorial Gardens.
