Helen A. Davis

Mrs. Helen A. Davis, 78, wife of Dr. John C. Davis of Meadville, died at City Hospital Friday, December 26, 1980, following a short illness.

She was born in Albion on April 19, 1902, a daughter of Dr. Garner P. and Ora L. Salisbury Spaudling.  She married Dr. Davis on June 4, 1929

She was a member of Stone United Methodist Church and graduated from Syracuse University.

She was a member and past president of Chautauqua Bird, Tree and Garden Club and was regent of Col. Crawford Chapter, Daughters of the American Revolution.

She was a member of Meadville Garden Club, Meadville Antique Study Club, Cleveland Garden Center, Meadville Literary Club and Friends of Meadville Public Library.  Mrs. Davis was former secretary and a life member of Pennsylvania Federation of Garden Clubs and was nationally accredited as a flower show judge.  She also was active in many other civic organizations.

Survivors, in addition to her husband, include a son, Clark S. Davis of Erie; a daughter, Mrs. Pieter (Susan) Brandse of State College; and one grandson.

Services were held at Waid Funeral Home.

Interment was in Albion Cemetery.
