Helen R. Coutler

Helen R. Coutler, 89, of Meadville, died Monday, September 7, 1998 at Meadville Medical Center following a brief illness.

She was born June 23, 1909 in Meadville, a daughter of the late Harry and Nellie O'Neal Guenther.  She married G. Stanley Coutler November 26, 1932.  He preceded her in death November 30, 1987.

Mrs. Coutler was a 1928 graduate of Meadville High School.  She was a homemaker.  She was a member of the 55 plus, Meadville Elks Lodge #219 Aux., Meadville Medical Center Aux., and had been a hospital volunteer for many years.

She was a member of St. Birgid Roman Catholic Church and its Alter and Rosary Society.

Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Richard (Patricia) Smith and Mrs. John (Connie) Ethridge, both of Meadville; six grandchildren, Gaye Katulich, Mrs. Keith (Marcy) LaVine, Mrs. Scott (Lisa) Bailey, Scott Smith, Brenda Bills and Tim Smith; twelve great-grandchildren; two sisters, Marie Mason of Chicago, IL and Mrs. Charles (Betty) Worst of Meadville; and also nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by a sister, Kathryn Minium.

Services were held at Waid Funeral Home.

Interment was in St. Brigid Cemetery.
