Helen R. Smith

Mrs. Helen R. Smith, 72, of Meadville, widow of Sheldon Smith, died at home Wednesday, January 5, 1983, after a sudden illness.

Mrs. Smith was born at Sugar Hill, Jefferson County, August 13, 1910, daughter of George and Margaret Roberts Yates.  She first married Sheldon Smith in 1960.  He died in 1970.

Mrs. Smith retired in 1964 from Crawford County assessor's office, where she was employed as a clerk.  She was a member of St. Paul's United Church of Christ.

Survivors include a son, Frank W. Smith of Meadville; two brothers, William Yates of St. Mary's and James Yates of Meadville; three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Services were held at Waid Funeral Home.

Interment was in Blooming Valley Cemetery.
