Helen R. Thompson

Helen R. Thompson, 87, of Meadville, died Saturday, March 11, 1989, at Wesbury Methodist Community following a long illness.

She was born in Pennfield, December 9, 1901, a daughter of Edmon and Josephine Talady Williams.  She married Howard F. Thompson, November 1, 1929.  He preceded her in death December 10, 1981.

Mrs. Thompson was retired after 40 years of teaching first grade.  She was a member of the Stone United Methodist Church and a graduate of the former Lock Haven Normal School.  She also belonged to the Order of Amaranth and the Pennsylvania State Education Assn.

Survivors include one son, Glen L. Thompson of Meadville; one daughter, Mrs. Charles (Mary Jo) Smock of Meadville; two sisters, Mrs. Ralph (Bonnell) Hoover of Big Run and Mrs. Kenneth (Bernice) Cleveland of Tucson, AZ; five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by one granddaughter and three sisters, Mildred, Grace and Ruth.

Services were held at Waid Funeral Home.

Interment was in Roselawn Memorial Gardens.
