Harney Dewey McGarey, 65, formerly of Parkwood Drive, Saegertown and a resident of the Crawford County Care Center since 2005, died there Tuesday, July 1, 2008.
He was born in Meadville October 17, 1942 a son of Fred Dwight and Araminta May Webster McGarey.
He attended Meadville public schools and worked for a short time at Greenleaf, Inc. He enjoyed his truck and watching TV.
Survivors, include his mother, Araminta M. Slingluff of Saegertown; an aunt, June Smith of Meadville; two step-brothers, Joe Slingluff of Guys Mills and Donald Slingluff of Phoenix, AZ and three cousins.
He was preceded in death by his father, Fred D. McGarey; his step-father, Rev. Claude A. Slingluff; two step-sisters and three step-brothers.
Calling hours will be Friday from 9:30-10:30 a.m. at the Robert W. Waid Funeral Home, Inc., 581 Chestnut Street, Meadville.
The funeral service will follow at 10:30 a.m. at the funeral home with the Rev. Gerald Walton, Pastor of the First Baptist Church, officiating.
Burial will be in Blooming Valley Cemetery.
