James C. Moertel

James C. Moertel, 89, of Conneautville, died Sunday, July 9, 1995, at Meadville Medical Center, following a period of declining health.

He was born in Fort Madison, Iowa, March 7, 1906, a son of Christian and Sophronia Bradshaw Moertel.  He married Anna Leaurene Manning, who preceded him in death.  He subsequently married Florence R. Shuey in October 1976.  She survives.

He retired as a project manager from Talon in 1971 after over 30 years of service.  He was a member of Norrisville United Methodist Church and was a former superintendent of its Sunday School.  He was also an avid golfer.

Survivors, in addition to his wife include, two sons, George Moertel of Conneautville and Jim Moertel of Meadville; a step-son, William Shuey of Conneautville; a step-daughter, Roselie Free of Conneautville; two grandchildren, three step-grandchildren and one step-great-grandchild.

He was preceded in death by a sister, Mertle Oppenheimer and a step-sister, Beatrice Wells.

Services were held at Waid Funeral Home.

Interment was in Beaver Center Cemetery.
