James L. Reed

James L. Reed, 91 of Millcreek Twp, Sandy Lake, passed away on May 3, 2022. James was born in Meadville on May 13, 1930 to the late Raymond and Mamie (Myers) Reed. He attended Meadville Schools and served in the US Army Anti-Aircraft 97th AAA Gun Battalion from 1948-1951 during the Korean Conflict. He served for 32 months in Japan and was a Staff Sergeant.

He was a member of New Lebanon Community Church. He worked in construction at Westinghouse Electric in Meadville and retired in 1995 from Spang Power Control in Sandy Lake after 35 years of service. In his spare time, he enjoyed traveling, camping, woodworking, and most of all spending time with his family.

He married his beloved wife Barbara M. (Klein) Reed on June 20, 1953, she survives. Also surviving is daughter; Kimberly (Jeffrey) Brinker, Mercer, son; James (Carolyn) Reed, Gibsonia, nine grandchildren; Jason (Rebecca) Adams, Christopher and Andrew Brinker, Julianna (Corey) Watenpool, Emma (Logan) Bosiljevac, Stephen Reed, Dayna (Steve) Betz, Jordan (Lydia) Reed, and Mattie Reed, seven great-grandchildren; James, Finn, and Rex Watenpool, Ford and Theo Bosiljevac, and Marin Reed and Trevor Betz, daughter-in-law Janet (Scott) Kingsley, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by two sons, Steven and Jeffrey Reed, brothers Howard, Ray(Alice) and Boyd (Mary) Reed, and sister; Mary (Donald) Schreck.

Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Rose and Black Funeral Home & Crematory, Inc., 99 Franklin Street, Stoneboro, where visitation will be held from 2-4 pm and 6-8 pm on Friday, May 6, 2022. A funeral service will take place at 11 am on Saturday with the Rev. Virginia LaVan-Gadsby and Rev. Pat Confer, retired minister, officiating.

Interment will take place in Oak Hill Cemetery where full military Honors will be rendered by the V.E.T.S Honor Guard.
